I FEEL that MORE IMPORTANTLY than TUBES, is to GET RID of the "DRYNESS" that EVERY 5150 HAS !!!!

      ...a BBE Sonic Maximizer in the effects loop {ANY model or size...They are like ROLEXS...The $1800.00 Oyster Perpetual AND a $35,000.00 18K Diamond Studded Presidential have the EXACT SAME MOVEMENTS...Above a certain level...It is ALL BELLS AND WHISTLES !!!!  }

      THEN, PULL the 6L6s, and CONTACT Fat Willie at NBS Electronics here in Denver...He has SCADS of NOS MilSpec USA tubes - ALL MATCHED...and EVEN BURNED IN !!!...Have him do a switchable bias {or someone ya trust locally}...and THEN INSTALL FOUR USA MADE MilSpec 7861As ....

      ....Plug in to a Variac set at 90-95 VAC...

      ...amd NEVER LOOK BACK !!!!!!

          Well I use grade 5 groove tubes sound is real oooy if that makes any sense.Sound is not too dry not too wet a nice inbetween sound.A BBE is a must and while your at it add an intellifex or ADA M1 or a good processor of some kind.I'm no expert on the rack stuff but they can make any amp sound so much better.

            Well,see,I'm more of a plug in and go kind of player.I don't like a lot of effects or anything of that nature,since it kinda slows you down in mid song having to turn them on and off for only a few seconds while you run around
            I realize that the BBE Sonic Maximizer is something you pretty much turn on,set and go.So I will look into that,but what are these "processors" you're speaking of?

            Also,if this helps or makes any sence,the tone I'm trying to get its sort of a cross between Alexi from Children of Bodom's "in your face" punch crossed with Chuck from Death's "peel the flesh off bones" kind of tone
            I use a RR with EMGs (85/81) if that helps also.

              The processers give you the ability to vary your tone amp styles, effects like over drive, delay,compression etc. In effect no need for effects pedals but I still use some pedals.You can be sure your favorite player uses a processer of some sort.
