Which do you prefer? and Why? what are the tone variances between the 2.

OK, I haven't had the pleasure to audition one yet but as I've read in a couple of places the 'II' is a little milder on the gain because Peavey folks supposedly got a lot of flak for the original being too "harsh".

original block letter head is the best imo.
the 5150 II sounded kinda raspy to me.
