Hello everyone. I have a question about a cab i have. Its a really old 2x12 no name cab with sheffield 1230's in it that i picked up used. I havent played out of anything else since I picked it up all those years ago. I simply love those speakers, and the cab easy to haul around. I am wondering, since i cant seem to find any on ebay or anywhere else, are their speakers out there that will give me identical if not better sound than the 1230's? Basically, i want to put said speakers in a 4x12. Before i invest in anything, i wanted to bring this up and see what anyone might have to say about it. thanks!

Re: sheffield speakers
Sheffields are one of Peavey's brand names. I agree with you, they sound killer. Some of the older ones are like 60 or 75 watt Celestions, really nice breakup. You should be able to find some more of those speakers on ebay, or even your local music shops. Peavey made a ton of cabs with these speakers. Good luck in your search!

Re: sheffield speakers
i really like the sheffields in my peavey cab. out of all my cabs it's the best. look for older 5150 cabs or just plain old (non 5150) peavey cabs like i have, they'll be loaded with sheffields. they'll have the sheffield equipped badge behind the grill. i don't know about the new ones. those cabs are built to the max too!1+2 = McGuirk, 2+4 = She's hot, 6-4 = Happy McGuirk

Hmm, silly me, they're just not 1230's.
