• Can a Line 6 spider be pluged directly into cpu like the pod for recording?

Ok, I think I'm going to buy a 2x10 spider with the fb4 switch to replace my 5150, but I was wondering if I can plug it directly into my cpu and record into guitar tracks, thats always been the worst parts of my recordings have been the volume levels recording with the mike.

You'd be better off with the POD for that - or even a Flextone. The Spider is a cool amp, but nowhere near the quality of sound of other Line 6 products.

You may also want to consider the Behringer V-Amp, which IMHO sounds better than the Spider.

To qualify that, I've had the Spider 210 and eveything else I've mentioned above as well, so I have real experience with each of those amps/preamps. I have never recorded with any of them however, so I can't answer any recording questions.

I agree with Chris. The Behringer V-Amp2 is a great recording device and inexpensive too. Oh yea.. look at the 1 x 12 too. It has more bottom than the 2 x 10 version. I practice through a Crate DXJ112. 60watts, 1 x 12, full size floorboard, 128 presets, many killer amp models and around $300.00 You could buy both!!

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think the new Spider II 210 gives u recording capabilities. It's $400 and sounds awsome too

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It still won't touch the Flextone or POD for recordable sound though. Save $100 and get the POD. Just my $.02.

So, there's a lot of people who obviously don't like the spyder 212, but can anybody actualy answer the question? I don't know if you can plug in direct with that or not. You might try the line 6 website though.

OKAY - here's an answer. If you can do it with a headphone out, then you will be able to do it with the Spider.

All anyone was saying is that there's better answers out there than the Spider, that, FOR HIS PURPOSE, can be had cheaper and will SOUND BETTER, okay?

Sheesh - just trying to help a guy out...

One other thing -- I LIKE the Spider, FYI. I used to have a Spider 210, just like he want s to buy. I might even look for one of the new ones. But the Flextone/POD is better for what he needs it for.

Well, I bought a crate DX212 for $255 so this question is worthless now. But thanks for the help anyways
