how much ass does this preamp kick? is it capable of death metal levels of distortion? How flexible is it? some opinions ASAP.

I have one.Using it with VHT 2150.
I can tell you this has very brutal distortion.
The Sharp CH(3rd CH) has tons of gain and bottom.
I would only need the clean CH and Brown Ch(which still has a lot of gains).

I can tell you after having Fish,5150,Engl and Mesa,Bogner Extacy and so on, if you want Death Metal sound along with nice lead CH(2nd CH, Brown CH) and good clean Ch.This is it.
Plus you can get it for around $500.

With 12ax7 tubes it has a lot of distortion. If you play around with the tube types you can change the character quite a bit. I think it is a good deal as far as sound and performance.

what would the distortion be characterized as? Is it a 80's metal kind of tone? or is it more of the modern hi-gain type sound like a 5150, VHT, or rectifier....etc.

You know Rockley music in Lakewood is now a bogner dealer, and there's a place in Longmonet that is a dealer as well. Woody's music or something like that.

I've still got the AmpFest Video clips I downloaded while that site was still up. There's one of the Triple Giant on the hard drive here. If anyone wants me to send it to them, send me an email.
