What do you guys think of this amp

I dont know that much about marshalls but this one was made in '86 so doesnt that mean its good quality? I havent heard anything good about the new marshalls. I was thinking of bidding $700 on it.

Im a little worried about the inside of it as it looks like there is grease / rust on some if it.

Finally, how much would a new tortex and back plate for that cost? thanks

I had one of these, back in the day. It was a good sounding amp, but mine kept blowing output transformers. (Note: I don't think this was common, it was _my_ problem.)

It looks like it's in good shape, and it'll get the '80s metal tone great with an overdrive pedal, and will get pretty grindy with something like a Boss DS-1. I'd think it was worth $700.

looks good to me, might want some mods, but i'm not the marshall expert. price seems ok. wouldn't want it to go any higher.

$700 does seem fair. I wouldn't personally pay that, but im cheap. One thing you should do is e-mail the seller and find out if the tranny's on that thing are Drake's. If so, you've got a winner there. Good luck!

With a "BIN" of $950, I really don't think a $700 bid is going to get you anything.

Considerably better. Actually, as good as they get. Has the vertical inputs, and the old power supply with the extra caps.
