• strange question

I've noticed that standing in front of any amp at high gain, the sound you'll here will be shrill and a bit dirty, while if you stay a bit at the side of it the sound is "normal".Any explanation about this strange thing?

    Re: strange question

High frequencies are much more directional than mids and lows. High frequencies dont spread out much from the front of the speaker, where as bass and some mids can be heard easily wether you are behind or off to the side. I'm sure someone here can explain it more scientifically, but thats basically it.

That's it in a nutshell. That's why tweeters or horns have a lense to diperse the sound more evenly.
