• anal about rackmounting

I´m a little anal about my rackmount stuff. I dob´t support the shit in the back. I just let it "hang" and mounts in on the front. Is´nt that abd for the rackcase and and the rack units?

No, rack mount equipment is designed to be mounted from the front ears. Some equipment requires 4 post mounting but that equipment has provisions to mount in the front and the back.

Yup, what JG said...

The only things I have ever seen with rear-racking are extremely heavy poweramps, and rackmount computers that are extra long...

For standard guitar racks you're fine.

I had a Marshall Rackmount Poweramp for several years ... I never supported the back and I never had any problems. My band played a lot of shows with that amp, so the rack was in and out of the truck a lot... no problems. I wouldn't worry about it.

Put the heaviest piece on the bottom usually the power amp. This way it wont go far if it drops a little. You can put additional support underneath if your really concerned ie rubber feet or even a wood platform. DO NOT BLOCK ANY VENTS.
I have never had a problem though, I just made sure the screws were cranked down pretty good and check them every so often if you do a lot of loading in and out.
