• Bastard Amp :(

71 Bassman, I put rca tubes in all the sockets and Bias the amp.
sounds ok but not like it should so I tear it down. and do the filter supply caps and resistors
and then flip the POS over...............
Its a wonder the friggen phase inverter even works.
dont know what the hell they did , But im tearing the bastard down to nothing
and going to black face it with a few mods.
seems the only thing they got right was the bias mod.
soldering was hidious at best, no solder sucking and blow torch soldering.
Christ Kill Me please

Re: Bastard Amp

not like no one cares But look at the time.
I got the pig running and did up the phase inverter and driver and a few other things .
to tired to bias, But it sounds good.
going to poke around and maybe rip into the tone stack tomorrow and see what the hell I can do there.
when I bought this I was told it was a 68
Bullchit. should have known when the date code was missing.
these make great platforms for marsh clones
I may put some kt66 in it tomorrow to see the tone
it has all RCA tubes now
well the bass channel sounds pissaH now it sucked b4 and the regular channel is cleen and I think when I hit it with pedal it will have a chit load of head room.
Had a small problem with the feed back resistor, there was a 1 meg in there and I was getting squeel so I opend it and squeel was gone.
slaped a 2.2 meg in there and its otay
I may unsolder the resistor of the bass pot and leave it open to see how the amp will sound
I forget the name of that mod.
owell Im pooped

Re: Bastard Amp

Unsoldering the resistor on the bass pot affects the midrange. Stock on some fenders is 6.8k - you can vary it from zero to 25k and get a lot of different tones.

Re: Bastard Amp

I solderd the resistor back.
think Im goint to tweak the amp
the deep channel has grind and sounds
and the other channel has nice cleen tone.
It was breaking up a little to early for Me
