Re: Laney amps

I actually own a bunch of Laney amps...I like how they have the "push/pull boost" EQ section. The older Laneys (AOR Series) are the best ones in my opinion. The newer series don't have the boost EQ sections anymore, and they're a bit more "buzzy" to me. But the GL series sounds pretty cool...alot like the ols AORs, and they have a Resonance knob like a 5150 to give you some @ss-kickin low end. I'd recommend them...great tone, easy to use, reliable, and great bang for the buck.

Looks as tho the VC is strictly class A, while the LC is class A/B.

Re: Laney amps

Class A and Class A/B refers to the way the output valves operate.

Class A = Vox
Class A/B = Marshall/Fender

The Laney VC range of amps are like updated Voxes on a dime budget. I have a VC30 112 and love it, but it is strictly clean to medium gain only.

I have never tried the LC range of amps.

One quick upload to my ic-musicmedia site later and here's a track featuring my Laney VC30 112. I was playing my PRS McCatry Standard through a Korg G4, any jumps in gain you here are me kicking in the G4's overdrive.

PRS Boogie

I was using the gain channel with the gain on about 80%.

Go for Laney. I'm using it almost a year now and I won't change my mind.

I use TF300. If you have a chance of getting a tube one, go and grab it!

I had (I actually have it,but I'm selling it) a laney gh50l for two years.Imo it's one of the best cheap valve heads,it's about 600$ new.Lots of gain, good tone (crank it),it has just one channel although.A good bang for the buck for sure.Never heard vc series, just read good opinions some year ago on an italian ng.

Re: Laney amps

Those VC series amps sound like they might be WAY to clean and twangy. I'm looking for a high-wattage combo for metal and hard rock and the TF300 looks like a steal. A lot of people online seem to love it and the price is definitely right.

Immortal - Can you give me a full review or offer any thoughts about the TF300?

Another question - Is there a combo version of the GH100TI Tony Iommi model? That thing just looks like metal defined.
