  • Should I bother with new pots when installing new pickups ?

So i'm planning my pickup install in the next two weeks or so. I realize that while I have brand new pickups (x2n's), the pots out of the guitar are probably the same old ones that have been in there since 1985.

Is there any use upgrading to 1 meg(I think) pots ? What kind of difference should I expect in terms of tone ? Are the pots from stew mac good ?

Unless the pots are scratchy or messed up in some way there's no reason to upgrade.

You dont need to replace them unless they are scratchy like the other guy said.

1 Meg pots will make your tone brighter and give more output. With those pickups you should be getting enough gain already so the 1 meg pots probably arent neccesary.

I dont know about stew macs pots but Im sure they are atleast decent.

Great choice in pickups by the way. I love those.
