  • Solo tone question

Hi, does anyone have any advice on what pedals can give You a more smooth soloing tone. Any amp I've ever owned has either had a killer chords sound with a so-so solo tone or vice versa. How can I get a creamy lead sound out of My amp maybe using some stompboxes? My first guesses might be a compressor or an EQ. Which one would make the most dramatic difference?

An EQ would make the most dramatic difference. Use it to set your lead tone, and leave your amp set to your rhythm tone. A slight boost near 1K on the EQ pedal would give you better tone separation from the mix for your leads.
The Compressor would just act as a peak limiter, and may add some noticeable "click" to your leads, and may actually reduce the punch of certain notes.
