I dont know much about the 2.0 but I amn using the V-amp pro rackmount unit in my live rig and I think it is great. When it comes to practicing at home, I use the V-amp into my soundcard or headphones and it does a wonderful job.

I like the sounds enough. its all I got right now..so I have to settle. just as good as a POD IMO for way less money too.

They're made in China, if you care about that. I do.

I use a v-amp2 for practicing at home, I love it. I dont know if the pod's might be better at certain things, but the V-amp2 is well worth the price.

The V-Amp 2 is supposedly exactly the same as the V-Amp Pro except not rackable.

Ron, is the China thing just a quality issue, or do you hate Chinese people? Or the Chinese government, perhaps? Just curious.

DISCLAIMER: The following is strictly my own personal opinion:

I tried the V-Amp2 back to back with a POD 2.0 and bought the POD. Believe me, I WANTED to like the V-Amp2 better because of the price, plus it included a footswitch AND a carrying case. No such luck. The reason is because I'm a "high gain" 80's-styled player. If I had been looking strictly at features and price, the V-Amp2 would have totally blown the POD away. I just couldn't get a high-gain sound I liked out of it. Of course, this was strictly comparing them in the store by going back and forth between them. The POD's "Modern Hi-Gain" setting, to me, blew away anything the V-Amp2 had to offer in the distortion department.

It sucked to pay $249.00 as opposed to $139.00 (with MORE features), but the Behringer just didn't ring my bell.

Again, just my opinion.

i agree with powertube.
i really wanted to like the vamp2, but the sounds are very digital/processed sounding to my ears.
i like the price and the features you get out of it, but it doesn't sound as good as the podxt, the vox modeler, the boss gt-6 or even the johnson modeler.

hmmm i've seen a page on the web, comparison between those you mentioned - a non distorted sample has been put thru those multi-fx'es .

to be honest the boss sounded like a mt-2 so no thank you
the j station sounded 3rd best after line 6 pod and vamp ( i think 1 but could be 2 )
.

but gennerally is it a good deal for a multi fx box / maaybe a pre and something to practice / direct record too ?

i could play with that for about 1 hours ( i haven't toggled the settings ) but some of them we're nice even without a cabsim while running thru a shitty hi-fi.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">yeah the v-amp2 is awesome I am gonna get one eventually for just recording , but the pod is built better as it's made of metal [the body] and the v amp is made of plastic . but who cares I never take any recording stuff to gigs anyway . and Ron even though they are made in china they are made to code right along with any USA stuff or Japan stuff if they weren't I would never buy one but as is the quaility is real good . I've never had any problems with any of my behringer products [di's cabs ect ect ...] ever , sady I can't say that about the other stuff I have wasted my money on over the years . the behringer stuff is great ! //Steve

.. also for home recording you can't beat the price hey , I mean try to mic your cab with good mics and a good mixing board and stands ect ect ect ... for [canadian] 289 $ fuck up here a shure 57 to mic your cab is 200 bucks alone man . plus all the shitty set up time and other gear to some times get a less than perfect sound and if you have a weak link somewhere in the chain it sounds lame and your fucked //Steve

I have a Vamp2 and use it for recording and headphone practice.

I can't really say if the "modeling" is accurate, but I can get decent sounds out of it. For $139 it is a nice recording/practice tool.

On my Vamp2 there can be a gap when switching settings if the settings change the amp model. It's not so bad when the amp model doesn't change.
