  • Help...

OK kids... I've got an ADA MP-2 and an ADA Microtube 200 that I'm sure are both in dire need of tube replacement.

    Where do I start?
    What do I get?
    Where do I get it?
Would I just be better off taking/sending them to a pro?

    Re: Help...

i'd take it to you most trusted amp tech. i have one here that is just great, and whenever i buy a used amp i take it straight to him for a thorough checkout.

it might not need tubes but might need a good cleaning and lube job in the tube sockets and a proper bias adjustment. or have some resistors or capacitors that need to be replaced.

this guy told me that unless the tube is microphonic or just plain old doesn't work. don't replace the tubes cause there is a big problem in the tube industry right now and everyone is having a hard time finding/making good new tubes.

tubes don't wear out - they either blow or become microphonic.

thats what he tells me anyways... and honestly, i beleive him.
