  • Ampage Inquiry Help

Well, im no amp guru so i could use some input..

Last nite at band practice, I cranked up my Mesa Dual Rec a little louder than normal and the tone just seemed to SQUASH!
The cab (4x12) sounded muddy and it sounded like a cheap rig.

    What Im wondering is why?

It sounds so warm and smooth before I tuned up the vol.

Is there something I need to do to compensate for when increasing volume to get that sound i had before???

    Input please...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">By Squashing do you mean compress? This is waht happens to all amps when cranked. Although the tone should Warm up rather than go the other way! Did you compensate the gain when cranking? The gain should be reduced as the volume is increased for a less grainy sound.

        Thanks for the link bro!

I will check that out this weekend.

Hmm, i guess squash is a little obscure.

When I turned the amp vol louder, the sound seemed more broken up, less warm and more garbled and distorted- not in a good way..

I did not reduce my gain to compensate for volume..
