I am wanting to purchase a new or used amp. I play metal but there are some clean parts in some of the different originals our band has. I was looking at the Peavey 5150 or the ENGL Richie Blackmore. Has anyone played both of these? What is the clean tone like on the Blackmore? I know the 5150 pretty much doesn't have a clean tone. Is there any other amp in the $800-$1300 range worth looking at for hardcore metal. Thanks.

The XXX has a dead dick clean channel in my opinion. Check it out. Should be in your price range, too, or thereabout.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well that depends....mine get great clean tones,it's all in how you set them up and your pickups etc.
