Re: celestion moved production to china

I'm not going to bite my tongue. Anyone who says they don't want something because it's made by another race, is a fucking idiot. Yeah, I have issues with jobs going to third world countries because they work for peanuts, and are exploited, but that has nothing to do with race. Look at Japanese cars. The Japanese make a better car than any of the shit coming out of Detroit. I used to drive a Mazda, drove the shit out of it, abused it, and hardly bothered to maintain it, and it never let me down. Now I have a company vehicle, and I don't have a choice, I have to drive a Chrysler product. What a piece of shit! We bought my wife a new minivan last year. It's a Pontiac Montana. A bigger piece of shit, I have never owned. Stuff just breaks or falls off it if you so much as look at it the wrong way. Why I ever bought another GM product, I'll never know. You'd think I'd learn my lesson after the Parisienne, or the Cavalier that went to the junk yard with 73k miles on it. Yeah, that's right, 73,000 miles!!!

Anyway, this is not supposed to be a rant about shitty North American cars, it's about racism. Some of you idiots need to open your fucking eyes and realize that the quality of products made in China has nothing to do with the Chinese workers. It's a result of greed, and shitty business practices. Grow up.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">ever driven a chinese car? dont think so.

the japanese are a completely different story. You probably think "they all look alike, so they must be the same anyway" haha

Bottom line, its little Chinese kids that are gonna be making our damn speakers. You want some starving, scrony asian boy making the speakers that you play live to every weekend? Chances are, 100% of the people that are gonna be working in the chinese celestion speaker factory probbaly know jack shit to nothing about sound. THATS why i dont want the chinese making my speakers.

Japanese make great things. Always have, always will. Chinese is another story. Theres a reason why they are moving to china and not japan.

A-men...I couldn't agree with this statemnet any more than I do.

Lack of competition in China is what kills their quality...Communism doesn't work economicaly(sp?)..this is a classic example.

The racist remarks are way out of line, and you are showing people exactly how intelligent you are when you make foolish statements like that. Everything you say after something like that is dismissed and not taken seriously because you have shown yourself to be an idiot.

Re: celestion moved production to china

I gotta say, I was hoping the racist crap was a joke to get people riled up. Obvously the Chinese people are humans, and if they are allowed to be creative, they will be. They have shown quality in art and other things, but when you go to an assembly line and work 15-18 hours a day six days per week, for very little cash, you aren't going to take much pride in what you do, you are just going to try to meet your quota or not fall behind. That's why many chinese products do suck, they have to meet the company's minimum requirements (that's why they are moved there- to savemoney).
BTW: Anyone ever hear any Chinese Metal? Any shredding going on? We all know Japanese bands, but there's what a billion folks over there building guitars - they've bound to have some at home, point me to some good music! I don't even care if it's metal! Chinese Stevie Ray Vaughn would be interesting.

Re: celestion moved production to china

Yes it's changing the British made Celestion legacy. The Chinese deserve to work as much as us Americans, or the Brits heck even the Canadians. :lol. The PSeakers I've seen being made in China have had thinner cheeper baskets and feel alot lighter in materials and craftsmanship. If the speakers don't change in anyway as far as sound and quality great I may still by new MArshall Cabs. Otherwise Im sticking with my Eminance that are made right here in the Midwest. And as far as Mesa Boogie goes they will have their speakers made in England there will be no change to the MEsa line at all. Good news for the Mesa fans.
Us MArshall fans however.

Re: celestion moved production to china

Lack of competition has nothing to do with it. It's lack of a goverment that gives a fuck about its people that's the problem. If they bothered to enforce some labor laws over there, you wouldn't have half the shit going on that you hear about. But ultimately, it's the taintspankers that run the factories that should be shot on sight. This isn't to say that everyone that runs a factory in China is an cockmaster that needs to have his anus stretched to goatse levels by a big black guy named Ben, but a lot of them are and should be sodomized accordingly.

I don't give a shit who makes what, where they make it, or who they're fucking. All I want is QUALITY gear at a good price. If race plays a part in it for you, exactly where is the line drawn? Will you buy Jacksons even though a lot of their current employees are hispanic? What if the guitars were made in Mexico, using the EXACT SAME process? What if a group of middle class honkies like myself moved our asses to China and started our own business? Would you buy those?

I agree that most stuff churned out in Chinese factories is second or third rate. This is because businesses want QUANTITY over QUALITY. Notice the change in quality of Korean and Japanese made products? Manufacturers have realized that we want GOOD gear, and not the total shit that has been spat out for years. Compare a $200 guitar made in the late-80's to one made now. A Hondo next to an OLP? The Hondo is a fucking JOKE and the OLP is... well... a REAL guitar. What I'm trying to say is, Chinese factories can turn out shit just as good as anyplace else if given the time and equipment. Too many asshats make the assumption that they don't do it because they're a different race.

Re: celestion moved production to china

I wouldn't have a problem admitting that made in China products are the best if they were the best. The problem is, companies want more money so they look for cheap labour, then they lower the quality a bit and the trademark goes down. Moveing production to China means some costs, too. Who's going to pay for this? Yeah, you guesses right.

Re: celestion moved production to china

Black Mariah...lack of competition has *everything* to do with it. Because the Chinese government owns and runs all businesses in the country, none of the companies are forced to make products that are better than the competition. The only QC they have to meet, is the governments...and all the government wants is to put money in its pockets...quality be damned.

The rusult is a product that just doesn't cut it. Do you really believe that Eminence or Weber would be making the excellent speakers they make without competition between all of the speaker companies? No way bro...

Free market capitalism is the best thing for the consumer...and *that* is why the S. Koreans and the Japanese are making good stuff. Because if they didn't, their business will fold. The Chinese have no such pressure.

I am still puzzled by the racist remarks by Pallers though..that was way out of line.

Well, here goes. I'm 54, so here's a little revisionist history. After WW2, Asia, particularly Japan had to rebuild. Much US money went to that end. One important aspect of the re-building was to start up manufacturing of goods that could be sold, not only to the Japanese, but to the world. Thus, the introduction of "Made in Japan" stamped on all kinds of stuff. At the time, the quality of these exports was not so hot. In fact, most were cheap imitations of items made here or in other countries. Guitars etc;etc. "Made in Japan" meant cheap and didn't sit well as they ate into US made item's market share. At the time it was, and still is, a quality issue not a racial one. Japan and Taiwan improved their quality over time. Their wages rose as well as their standard of living. Now, it was time to find cheaper labor. Korea, etal started exporting. Sorry, China. Cold War politics and an isolationist Commie Govt. left them in the cold. Well, sports fans, it's a new game. With labor costs low, masses of workers, Capitalist's money and an "Enlightened" regime they will be making everthing in China, including your bed. China has a gabazillions of people to keep happy. They will flood the international markets with stuff to keep their expanding economy and expectations running full steam. Hallowed names, like Celestron, will go where the cheap labor is. The issue will always be a quality item at a fair price. If these companies don't produce quality goods, regardless of where they are made, people will stop buying. My only beef is everything I touch seems to be made in China. Race has nothing to do with it. There is just too much damn stuff.
I am a true ass set to this board.
