It didn't work for me, so I don't think they're that great, but if it works for you, that's all that matters. I don't think I've heard on on a professional recording, but mine had a buzzy, artificial solid state distorition - seemed like a good punk amp to me. I am sure others will disagree. I didn't really mess with the clean much, but it sounded ok. I was biased, because I like either a mesa recto sound or Marshall, maybe even a fender twin on clean, but this didn't do it for me. Maybe mine was oddball, I dunno.

It's a Fender amp. 100w combo or head. I've got the head and it sounded ok to me through a Carvin 2x12 cabinet. I don't care for the distortion as it's not as crunchy as I prefer but it gets a great Iommi/Maiden/Angus tone, but isn't capable of raging death metal or even thrash/speed.

I believe they are a solid state power amp with a 12ax7 in the preamp. THey were available in a few combos and a 100 watt head. THey were previously called the "performer" series. I would say they are better sounding than most solid state amps, but not as good as a full tube stup. You can definitely get some good gain out of them if you have hotter pups. More of a rock amp than a metal amp. make sense? I would say since they go for dirt cheap used, they are a good deal.

yes, he said so in his ask yngwie section. if i recall correctly he said that his marshalls were a) too loud and b) to heavy and edgy sounding for a classical recording. so he went for the roc pro. afaik he uses the roc pro in his clinics, too.

Yeah, not a bad amp, I bought the half stack version when it was discontinued 3 years back. I really like the yellow gain channel.
