Sounds nice but when I was playing it live, the distortion channels were too overloaded with gain.

I don't know, I am not a great fan of tube distortion, even though it's not bad at all. I just can't play on it.
I rather plug some distortion pedals in it and run it through the clean channel, whether it's solid state or tube amp.

Detuned 7 string is what he used for those clips.

oh, ok thats the problem.

amps are made for 6 strings in E. or else there is really no need for a bass player, hehheh.
