a few years ago I aquired an old carvin cabinet with celestions in it. it was from the 80's at least, came from a dead guy (long story). anyways, the speakers sounded awesome, but one of them was blown so I had to replace it. the thing is, the speakers were 50 watt celestions, at 15 ohms. I took it to the local shop and they had never heard of em before. The were made in Ditton works england, as it says on the back of the magnets.
so I had to replace that one speaker with a vintage 30, and eventually I replaced em all with vintages 30's. Can anyone tell me about these old celestions I got? model is G50. when were they made? why the heck are they 15 ohms? I thought the standard ohm load for guitar speakers was 8 and 16 ohms. they sounded really good. are they worth much? or are they cheapos?
