My brother let me borrow his Crate 15 watt practice amp and it got pretty cool sounding distortion for a little amp. Fun for cheap money.

I had a little Vox Pathfinder that I really liked. I think they are $99. They are great little practice amps and take pedals very well.

The Microcube sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I'll have to try one out locally. Thanks guys!

The new Vox AD15. It absolutely KILLS for $180! It's a toned down AD60VTX. Some really nice models in there. Nothing better out there for the money.

If you are into a Marshall Sound or Fender sound I would recommend the Tech 21 Trademark 10. It gets awesome gain & bass at low volume.

Also has a direct recording output. Accepts pedals well but does not have a good built in Mesa Rectified sound.

I've got a roland cube 15 and its a great little amp. 8 inch sp. and 4 distortion settings I can't believe how great it sounds. 95 bucks new.The minicube might be worth checking out but its more $ and not that much smaller then the 15.

I borrowed my bud's Behringer Vamp (the 1st edition) and put it through some computer speakers and got some suprisingly good results...with stereo effects too, if that's your thing. Not bad for a ~$100 amp/effects thing and run of the mill computer speakers.

Are those Tech 21 Trademark amps basically a Sans-Amp original or GT-3, witha power section and a speaker? I have a GT-3 and they are OK but nothing that remarkable as far as tone goes.

The Peavey Rage 158 I can say was the worst amp I have ever owned. I had a Peavey Audition 10 or something that was MUCH better than the Rage.

I tried the Cube 30 today and I have to admit that it
gets awesome 80's metal tones along with many other
                          great sounds.
