  • Solid State Amps?

As i look more into Heads and Cabs I see that it's unlikley that I will be able to afford them.

In particular, the jcm 900, Blue Voodoo, or the Peavy 5150.

Any Solid State Amps that are decent? I don't need super superb sound, but I would like something that doesn't sound choppy at higher volumes, and can take on drums also.

Or if you have a good suggestion of a tube head that's not so expensive.

The only tone I'm looken for is a clean tone, (doesn't have to be superb) and a metal distortion tone.

check out a randall rh series, the distortion is pretty brutal plus they are dirt cheap.

Look for a Sovtek Mig 100. It's 100 watt tube head. Kicks ass for around 400.

I use a Crate GFX1200H full stack, and I am happy with my tone, and I can play over the drums..it's 120 watts. Works for me.

Are the newer Supreme XL's the same as the prior generation's Supreme (that introduced the T-Dynamics or whatever that pseudo tube knob they incorporated), but just with the tribal face plate?
