Re: getting a huge death metal sound a la CC

Well, I alreay have an MT-2 that I will be sending off and it's practically brand new. The mod is only 75 bucks. Maybe Fragle would be itnerested in your offer though.
Check my Jackson themed Myspace page, hear some good metal, and check out a little shred fest by me.

Lurchhammer is right on the money regarding the Metalzone and Rectifier's. I happen to be pretty good friend with Phil Fasciana from Malevolent Creation and Both Rob and Phil use that setup as Lurch describes. I think it sound's killer and have told alot of people who arent to thrilled about their Rectifier plugged straight in to give it a shot and many have been blown away.Earlier this year I brought a Savage 120 and a Powerball to Phil's warehouse for him to try out and he was so blown away within 2 minutes he was saying he wanted to use it on the new album but unfortuneately since it was recorded in Canada it just didnt happen Nonetheless the new album still sound's great anyway and both Rob and Phil used the MZ-Rectifier combo. Right now I have a Powerball up at Mana studio's which is Eric Rutan's(Hate Eternal) studio in Tampa and he'll be using it on the new Hate Eternal album which should sound incredible . Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Hey Lurch, could you please post the MT2 settings here on the jcf, because i really like the tone on ''The Will to Kill''. And do you have any suggested rectifier settings when using the MT2?
Cool site BTW!!!

Thanks,
Dion

They (like anyone) wouldn't like it if someone else posted their settings, but I'm sure they would probably show you if you see them at a show- sorry.

I can understand that....but here in Europe we never get to see the artists.....Last month i saw malevolent creation and they didn't show up in the crowd after the show so asking them what settings they use is quite impossible

But I'm not asking for THE EXACT Malevolent Creation sound... just a setting to make the rectifier sound better with the MT2

so maybe i'll take a look at different pu's....maybe a tonezone or a evolution....damn, i wish dimarzio would make a 7string x2n, that would rock.

Try a 7 string Duncan Invader. That ought to be hot enough for anybody.

My very first 7 was an M-207 and it had an Invader in the bridge and an Evo 7 in the neck and
through my 5150 it sounded killer. Pitch those pickups and see the smile on your face.
(I should've kept that guitar,it was actually a really good 7)

Yeah, really!

Anyway, somewhere during the past 10 years, I was looking for a Keeley MT-2 mod, but wound up getting a Monte Allums MT-2 instead from someone here in a trade. I have to say, running it into a distorted amp, it really does sound great with the level about 3/4 or so up and all EQs set to 10:00, and the distortion all the way down.
