• 5150 impedence question

I have a 5150 head and four 8 ohm cabinets. If I set the head at 4 ohms, can I run all 4 cabs? Will all 4 cabs bring the impedence down to 2 ohms? I know that some amps can handle loads down to 2 ohms, is the 5150 one of them?

I think it would equate to two ohms and probably not safe for your amps transformer...I wouldn't do it. You could set them up and measure the resistance with any cheap DMM if you are ever in doubt...and FYI a 16 ohm load usually actually measures like 13-14 ohms...don't know why but it does. Why does a positrac work...don't know...it just does.

It would be 2 ohms, and the 5150 head can't go that low. Most amps that can go to 2 ohms, are Bass amps, I don't recall seeing any guitar amps that can go that low.
