Re: tubes
Checkout www.eurotubes.com and give Bob a call (he'll answer the phone). I would not get groove tubes--yuch. He can suggest some other alternatives.

Re: tubes
Bob is great and very friendly. He will probably only offer JJ's though.

Re: tubes
What are your pre-amp tubes? What type of MEsa amp is it?
either tubestore.com or eurotubs.com are good vendors.
I'd go with JJ 6L6's
http://www.tubestore.com/tesla6l6gc.html
and EH Pre-amp tubes
http://www.tubestore.com/ehx12ax7.html
Read their site and make up your own mind based on your amp and what you think will work shawnlutz.com

Re: tubes
For my Mesa, I bought some EH 12AX7 preamp tubes from www.thetubestore.com and got my JJ EL84 power tubes from www.revolutionguitar.com. Both are great to deal with.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Re: tubes
I still say:"Buy vintage tubes from a reputable source." The 6l6 was used all over the place and there are many vintage tubes out there. They were made when there were no transistors and the quality is high because they had to be. New tubes,IMHO, are made as an afterthought for a niche group. Go back to the days of yesteryear and buy the good ones.I am a true ass set to this board.

Re: tubes
I swapped between GTs and Sovteks in my Blue Voodoo, and to be honest, I didn't notice a damn difference.
