Mesa.
I had a Engl Savage 120 and Mesa Rect 2x12, it sounded killer!
I still have my 2x12.
I am not sure about VHT 2x12 cab.

Big difference in sound. The VHT FB 2X12 is frontloaded and sounds much tighter, more focused, and more articulate... the Mesa Recto 2X12 is rearloaded and sounds more resonant, looser, and darker. Try them both. Each sounds drastically different, so you shouldn't have trouble selecting between them.

I've never tried a VHT but I have a Mesa 2X12 and a Bogner Large closed back 2X12. I also play a Powerball.
The Mesa is punchy and dark, very cool and nasty.

The Bogner is my fav though. A bit more open, direct and nicer mids. It is almost a tiae, but if I had to make a choice I'll go Bogner.

Originally I ran it througha Marshall 1960 4X12 slant and ner knew how much I was loosing until I plugged it into these two babies.
Hard to believe but the Mesa and Bogner 2X12 sound bigger than Marshall' 4X12.
