  • Mesa effects loop confusion and processors?

Does anyone run an effects processor (delay/reverb/etc.) through the effcts loop of their Dual Rectifier? What is the best one to get for some thick solos and how do you set yours up? (like the mix level on the back and stuff)

I've never tried mine, so I'm confused about the loop channel selector knob on the back; if you set it on 'Red Channel Loop Only' but then you also have the channel clonning set to 'Orange to Red' does that mean that both channels will now have the loop ON, or will just the lower channel be on?

Also, what if you use the Loop footswitch out (I have a Tremoverb) to control the loop- does that bypass the selector knob on the back, or does that knob still have to be used?

    Thanks for any advice!

on your, say Delay pedal, turn the mix or wet knob all the way up and use your FX Mix knob on the recto to control the amount of delay in your sound.

ok, i recommend using the rear FX selector knob in the footswitch position. this way you have overall control of the whole amp at your feet.

plug your Delay pedal (i say delay cause that is the magic "solo" effect most guitarist use) into the FX send and return. set the Send level to 12 o'clock or "normal" position. set your pedal or prcessors mix to 100% wet. use the mix knob on the rear to achieve the right amount of effect desired. now if the volume drops when you turn the loop on via the footswitch (which you have to have on to hear any effect at all) turn the send level up on the rear panel. if its too loud turn the send level down. now the loop active master knob on the front will be your overall amp volume. (in this setup the channel cloning will not effect the effects, hehheh)

this set up will give you the ability to turn on and off the effects. and all the channel switching right off the footswitch.

"Also, what if you use the Loop footswitch out (I have a Tremoverb) to control the loop- does that bypass the selector knob on the back, or does that knob still have to be used?"

for this application the rear selector should be in the footswitch position. to answer your question... the loop footswitch out as well as the other ext switching jacks are for rack mount set-ups where a midi brain is controling all the switching via a midi control footboard with tons of buttons controling the recto as well as other processors and such.

set up like this you can use the ac adapter on your delay pedal and just keep it on the whole time on top of your head close to the ac outlet. (no need to use batteries or use the pedal to switch on and off your effects.)

    anyway,
good luck and have fun with it, you've got a great amp that was designed with versitility in mind. and the Trem-o-verb is the best sounding recto out there.
