need advice on a pa system. i have a digitech rp200 pedal i've been told i need just clean channel amp. wanting to stay around the 200 range, just for home use... so i see alot of amps w/25-30 watts of power for about that, but i also see alot of small pa systems from kustom, nady, ect w/80-100 watts of power. call me crazy but i'm leaning towards the pa system. is there a differance i would notice?

if you decide to play in a band you won't want to use a PA system for a guitar amp. Get a nice clean amp and cabinet or combo.

I bet you could find a great amp in the $200 range from someone on this very board!

What kind of music to you most often play?

wait, are you looking to do vocals or guitar through it?

guitar, it's for home use and practice, no band. just want the most for my money. pa's can be be used for guitars and mic's at the same time. that's why i'm leaning towards a pa. (expandable if needed)

Behringer has a four-channel PA/keyboard combo that I've heard used for guitar, with pretty good results. Since keyboards have a wide frequency range, the amp has no problem with guitar, although the tone won't be ideal. With a decent EQ and preamp (tube if possible) you should find it quite capable.

I wouldn't get it as a substitute for a real guitar amp. I'm sure it would perfectly functional, but don't thing you'd be all that happy with your tone. I'd suggest finding a relatively inexpensive amp with speaker and direct/line outputs, so you have the option of running into a mixing board or adding a speaker cab. Most of the Peavey TransTubes meet those requirements, and will sound better.
