Hi. Long time no see.

Okay, I'm looking at wahs and seeing my friend playing for too long, so I decided to test it and potentionally buy it.

Okay, here I am with this question: what's the main difference between all the GCB models from Dunlop? I'm interested mainly in Dunlop wahs. What's the difference between GCB line and the Jimi Hendrix model instead of fuzz?

The Hendrix model has a vocal mod to make it sound more like a VOX. The difference bewteen GCB's are adjustable contour (wah tone), true bypass etc.. They all basically sound similar. I suggest you try the Morley Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah. If you like vintage sounding wahs then pick up a Hendrix wah. They sound great.

Hm ... the problem is that I am looking for GCB-95 mainly because of the price. I can get new 95 for 70 EUR, but Jimi Hendrix thingy is much more expensive and I really don't need fuzz effect.

I've seen Morleys but I haven't tested one yet. I basically want true wah which is not a cheapo one. I have a feeling that GCB-95 is somehow more or less traditional and ultimative wah pedal right now.

Here's another vote for the Morley Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah. I find I've been using the Contour function on there a lot more than before and it really helps you shape your wah sound. I can get mine to sound very vocal and soft/smooth which is what I want from a wah pedal, to emulate the human voice without having to go to the talk-box route. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Used in conjunction with a mid-sweep or just playing around with the Mids control on your amp, you can change the "voice" dramatically. [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] Plus, I love the switchless feature on it. I just step on it and it activates. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I think it also has true bypass because I don't notice any of my tone being stolen by the wah pedal.

You can get a Jimi Hendrix pedal without the fuzz feature...that's my main wah pedal right now. I'm a wah junkie dude, I love my Hendrix and the Crybaby that JGCable modded for me but I'm jonesin' for an old Morley Power Wah Boost as my next addition...maybe after I get the other pedals I need I can get that one sometime.

I have the Bad Horsie 1 and I really adore it. Very smooth, and NO SWITCH! (the reason I bought it)

Is the BH 2 much better? Is it worth getting another wah? I would appreciate if somebody could give me a brief run-down on the Morley BH2.

This is my review of the Morley Bad Horsie 2 Contour Wah (click here)!!!

Keep in mind that I made that review ages ago when I first got the pedal. Now I use the Contour mode a LOT. I don't mind the added noise because there isn't any when I use the Bad Horsie 2 in conjunction with my Boss GT-6 since there are built-in noise suppression devices in the GT-6.

I'm almost done learning a full wah song that the Bad Horsie 2 is fantastic at. Listen to this Joe Satriani "Love Thing" clip, it's the song I'm working on. Notice the very smooth warm gentle vocal-like wah. Almost sounds like a talk-box. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] That's why I love it. Contour mode on, add some mids to my amp, and Marshall-type distortion with delay and compression on my GT-6. I'm very close to nailing that wah tone.

I have the Dunlop rack wah system and after owning it a while I will never buy another wah. It is awesome. I can get any sound I want and it has a fully adjustable eq as well as all the Dunlop wah pedals (Including the bass wah) rolled into one. I also have a Morley BH but don't even use it anymore. I liked the instant on feature but the wah itself does not have enough bottom and the top end is harsh IMO. I still like it though but not nearly as much as the Rack Dunlop unit.

I had a Jimi Hendrix Wah/fazz.
It was great.
Also 535(with booster).
I have been thinking of getting a Morley Tremonti Wah.

Does Dunlop make a switchless wah? I thought I heard they started making them a while back?

Yes, the 95Q is switchless. I played one a few years ago in Guitar Center, and it was very cool. It's got an adjustable volume boost and adjustable Q control on the side of it. I didn't buy it because I wound up getting a limited edition copper GCB95 off ebay for cheap.
If I were to go switchless now, I'd probably get one of those or the Morley Tremonti Power Wah.

BTW, were you able to remove the tarnish from the copper casing?

No problem. I haven't even tried to remove the tarnish yet. I've been busy with work, plus I've been sick for the past week. I'll probably get around to it this weekend.
