I got my first tube amp last year, a Mesa F-30 1x12 combo. Not too long ago I changed the stock 2 EL84 power tubes and 4 12AX7 preamp tubes to JJ and EH. I didn't have it biased, but it sounds fine to me. They really didn't seem to change the tone from the original Mesa tubes either... at least not that I can tell.
