Here's the time frames where the power tubes change:

0:01-1:17 tube 1
1:18-2:25 tube 2
2:26- end tube 3

here's the amp I used - self built, single ended kinda high gain EL84 powered camo thing:



Raging 5 watts or so [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Power tube was either a JJ, EH or Sovtek (mesa). Haven't had a chance to crank up the .50, so this is kinda close. Opinions on the tones? I know I hit more clams than a bulldozer on the beach, but it was first take for each tube.

Well, I liked the first one the most.

All 3 sounded very smooth and soft. Is that the recording? or do you the EQ set like that or have the tone knob turned up?

They sound pretty good, thats a damn cool amp you have there. I have always wanted to make my own amp, but I dont have any amplifier know-how (I have been doing guitar electronics for a while now, so Im have a pretty good base knowledge of electronics) how did you learn? you have to go to college courses for that stuff? or just mess around with tubes and a soldering iron in the garage?

Sounds great, reminds me somewhat of santanas tone.

Wow, thats a really neat clip man! I liked the first tube best... then the third tube. Great tone and fantastic playing.

Its gotta give you a sense of satisfaction knowing you built your tone with your own hands. I wish i had the knowledge to do something like that. Very cool.

1 and 2 also. 3 still sounds good. But it's not as rich and thick as tubes 1 and 2.

To me the 3rd sounded the thickest and the 2nd the creamiest. Great playing once again.

I liked the second one myself. It seemed to capture the best tonal qualities of both the 1st and 3rd clip.

well, i'm gonna go with tube # 2. allthough i loved all of them. # 2 had the buttery yet spic - damn, now looking up that's basically what jg said only i'm a little more intoxicated. hell i'll go on anyway.
tube 1 was nice and dark with sharp spikes of crying sweetness, and 3 was warm and fuzzy like tiger with a little honk in it's roar. but 2 was shining like the afterglow from a good BJ from a groupie! [img]/images/graemlins/toast.gif[/img]
