Duncan Custom Custom

Opinions please ? I just bought a group of 7 pickups and one of them is a black Duncan Custom Custom. From looking at Seymour Duncan's website, it doesn't appear to be very high output. Is this pickup a weinie or not? I'll probably toss it up on eBay.

Medium output, very midrangy...some folks love 'em.

Yuk, hate midrangy pickups. This one is an older 80's non-logo model with a "CCJ" sticker. Anybody know what the "J" stands for?

That's the first initial of the person who wound it. You'll see that a lot - JBJ on a JB, DCJ on a Custom, etc.

I don't know if that's first name or last name.

The Custom Custom was once SD's go to pickup for the early VH sound (now they have EVH and 78 models targeting that sound). I have one mounted directly to the body in my maple-bodied EVH replica Kramer and love it. It does do a nice job of getting the early VH sound, IMO.

I ordered the EVH pickup to drop in my SLATQH. They take ten weeks for delivery... by all accounts it's supposed to be a really good pickup. Anybody try one?

Dude, DONT use it they stink. I had one put in an older Jackson of mine. I had it ripped out 2 weeks later. The Duncan custom is a great pup.
