thanks for the kind words guys. I like this little hot rod enough that it's hard to fathom the SLO being more than a little bit better... Maybe part of it is that my HR is biased properly and has really good sounding tubes, I don't know. The comparison should be interesting to say the least.
I'll have to post my direct Vetta clip for the heck of it - it really does capture a lot of the soldano sound IMHO. And yeah, I do need to do a clip with the TS5881s and the same amp settings... but the 5881s were just TONS smoother on the high end than the GTs. With the 5881s, it almost took on a bognerish dark/smooth sound, which isn't bad... it's just not as in your face as the crunchy high end.
I also cranked the 'clean' channel up, and it got a NICE vintage marshally kinda tone. As time permits I'll post a clip.
