    Re: 6L6 vs 6L6GC

If I recall my tubes correctly, the GC is the version of the 6L6 you want. The GC also operates at higher voltage levels than the 6L6GA or 6L6GB or 6L6 metal type.

    Here's a link I just dug up.. 6L6 descriptions

      Re: 6L6 vs 6L6GC

i just went to www.erotubes.com and read about it. i reccomend calling them and asking questions before buying new tubes. i just called them and talked with them about what i have already vs. what thier JJ tubes would do for my head, and i ended up buying a complete set of pre's and power tubes from them. based on what i read on their website and what we discussed on the phone... sold! can't wait to try them out. the quest for tone never ends hehheh!

If I remeber correctly, The GC stands for withstanding plate voltages of 500+.

Final letters often specify the type of envelope. The USA code is
          G - large glass envelope.
GC - Glass Compact - a tubular glass envelope
GT - Glass Tubular - the smallest glass envelope
          M - Metal Envelope
          WA - High Quality version

www.eurotbes.com has good discriptions of both the JJ versions and various other brands.

It really depends on your amps voltage bias and where those tubes will be operating at. I use GC's and WGB's. If I can bias it to the specific amp.. I've used GB's and 5932's also.
