Eddi Van Halen MXR phase 90

These units have a little switchon them to switch between a block logo and an old script logo. What is the difference? I thought that the re- issues were supposed to sound like the originals.

I believe one of them has an edgier sound to it, not sure which version, though. I'm also kind of interested in this pedal.

I bought one just for fun.....
Because it has stripes & is a hell of a lot cheaper than an EVH Art series Charvel.

I've had it for a week & have been too busy to plug it in.

I think the script logo mode is supposed to be a little smoother sounding or something.

The manual does give their setting for early VH tone....its Script logo mode & speed at 9:00.

The script logo is the older ones I believe. I have an old phase 45 which I bought used in 1980 that has the old script logo. It's range is not enough for old VH but it's great for other stuff. It sounds great. A couple of people at the music store I teach at keep offering me money for it. I will be buried with it!

Listen to Ain't Talkin' Bout Love from the first Van Halen album. The swooshey sound is the Phase. Also, Atomic Punk from the same album to name some popular ones.

I got one - it's VERY cool. I paid $119 at Sam Ash in Raleigh. It works great clean, dirty, single coils, humbuckers, and plays nice with other pedals. It is defintely not the same as a current stock phase 90 - the best way I can describe it is the EVH sounds a tad smoother. I haven't opened it up to see if it has the trim pot to tweak it.

I picked up a Phase 90 two months ago at GC for $59 and love it. But I can't imagine the EVH one is worth twice the price.

The reissue can be modded to be like the EVH.
