Well, neither are all that great... So, go figure...

More people buy Brittney Spears than Tony MacAlpine... Guess that means Brittney is better...

              Yeah... Must be...

Yup, Marshalls are real crap....LOL...that's why most of the rock world uses em...LOL.

Most people buy Marshall for the name, not the tone..............

Yeah, all those pros using Marshall who could buy ANYTHING they wanted are not buying Marshalls for the tone.....

                        Re: Marshall JMP-1

I had a good laugh once when out with my VHT2150 and CAE3+se, a guy came up and told me how good I was, and that I should step up to buying a Marshall!!!

                        I laughed way too hard...

Marshall popular because they are fairly cheap, you can find a new Marshall at any store in the world when your's blows up, and if you can get a good sound with it, you can get that sound anywhere you find a Marshall, and that's everywhere. If you're touring with an ENGL and it smokes, you can't replace it too easily. If you are using a Marshall, you go anywhere and get a another. It's that simple.

Professional car rental companies rent millions of ford escorts and contours, it's not because they are awesome cars... It's because they are cheap and readily available everywhere. That's all.

I'm an ex true marshall freak by the way... And I SURE wish I could still adore them in the way I used to. I just can't anymore. Unless it's an older 800 or something like that. Wish I could happily say Marshall rules in all forms, but I can't... I know better now. There's worse, and there's much better. For what they cost nowdays, you can buy much better sounding and better made equipment.

                          Re: Marshall JMP-1

I'm sorry but that argument doesn't make sense.

Marshalls are not popular because they are cheap. If they were then why would lifetime artists who make plenty of money still pick them when they could afford anything they want.

And they're not popular because they can be replaced easily....what serious performer wouldn't gig with a backup??

They are popular because many people like the tone...end of story. If it was merely teenagers in their bedrooms using Marshalls I might tend to agree with you but it's not that way at all. Plenty of artists who gig year round use them when they could feasibly pick anything else.

Old legends die hard and Marshalls were what the music world was about, they assuredly had a legend, and deservedly so actually. Sadly, they are a shadow of their former selves at this time.

They are the best common and cheap amp out there, so they are everywhere. Simple as that.
