I have a Roland Cube 30 and I think it is fanstastic. So does just about every person who has ever heard it.. except you. I recorded all my MP3's using it straight into my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 sound card. It ever records great. I don't want to include all the cheap crappy amps out there so I will just go with a semi-high end crap amp. The Fender Cybertwin. Every amp it tries to model sounds like a Fender. Even the Rectifier setting sounds like a Fender.

Well 30 isn't so bad, I just don't like the tone but Cube 15 and microcube are just plain horrible.

No I don't know if he used them or not. I do know enough though to know that a good deal of endorsers don't use the gear they endorse in the studio. So to assume a tone on an album was achieved using someones signature piece of gear is a bad assumption. Also, the majority of "signature" guitars are different from the ones the stars use. Jackson is one of the very few companies that puts out signature guitars that are identical to what the player uses.

I was actually thinking in terms of live use rather than studio. You'd figure if he had a bunch of different gear set up by the Crates or behind them, word would get around and as someone who tours a lot you might know for certain. His live tone seemed geat to me way back when with the Crates.

I'm guessing not many folks have had the chance to play through a Krank Revolution series head yet, because they have yet to be mentioned in this thread. My local guitar shop has like 3 or 4 and they are all laughably terrible.

Line 6 spider combo. Horrible amp. No warmth to the sound of that thing whatsoever, and not in the cool kinda way. I hate that thing.

I happen to get some great tones out of my Crate GFX1200H head..but each one is different. I tried a Randall 100 something (can't rememeber the exact model) and it sucks ****!

I've been using a BV for about 2 years now, and haven't had any of the aforementioned problems. In fact, at shows and on our CD, most people comment on how good the guitar tone is. That being said, the worst amp I've heard is our old guitar player's solid state Crate...not sure of the model, but it was a G-something-X 120 watt head.

I should also point out using V30s makes the Blue Voodoo sound a lot better than it does through the Crate speakers.
