Two questions about PODs

Hey guys, how are you?...

1) Can you use something like a POD XT live (or a GNX3) as a regular MIDI pedal to control the effects on rack-mount unit?

2) Can you use the POD to record using Guitar Tracks PRO (or any software like this) or do you have to use Line6's own software?... I mean, when you plug the thing through the USB to your PC, does it recognize the unit as an audio input device or what?...

Not sure about number one, but the POD XT is an audio signal in to your PC so Yes it will work. I use it with Cubase SX and it works great.
