I have Creative T5400s (5.1) that I got as a gift with my Audigy 2 ZS. They've been incredible for gaming and great for music as well. After using them in HL2, Doom3, FarCry, etc., I'd say that your sound card + speakers are as important as your video card (especially since surround sound was my only guide through half of Doom3 as I couldn't f*cking see anything). They were apparently cheap ($80-100) too.

That being said, if I was shopping for speakers and money was no object, it'd be the Klipsch 5.1s hands down. 6.1 and 7.1 are overkill for my room/desk anyway.

I just need to add the subwoofer now, and I'll be happy [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] The 1031s only go down to 37hz, and there's a good deal of "crap" happening between 20 and 40 that I'm not hearing I'm sure.
