Crate V58 reviews?

I searched, but I didn't find any topics here concerning this
amp. Anyone using/have used one have any thoughts? For the
price, it seems like a good deal for a tube/USA made practice
amp for home. Any thoughts appreciated.

I've heard of the VC508 but not a V58; is it new?

I think it is the newer line of the same amps.
All tube, 5 watts. I think it can actually power a 2x12
cab as well.

I had the older one. It was alright, I sold it before too long. It had a unique sound to it, but not much control over it. There is like a VU, TONE and GAIN knob IIRC. It looks like a good amp to open up and experiment with different tubes with, that's what a lot of people use them for. I think I traded mine for an acoustic to someone on this board about a year and a half ago.

As for it powering a 2X12 with 5 watts, my Smokey amps can power my 580W 4X12 with one blistering watt of soild state power!! Not as loud as the VHT, but it's medium bedroom level.
