Just what it says. A tonal expander/boost circuit. Think it is like a JE1200 circuit combined with a JE1500 circuit w/o the pot. It is more like a frequency cut on one half or a mid boost on the other.

I wonder if his references to a tube screamer would not be in violation of Vero, but I suppose you can say it sounds similar to one.

I'd like to know how this thing can "boost" anything without having it's own power source. I am pretty sure that an unpowered device can only shape sound by cutting certain frequencies, and can not actually boost anything.

It does have its own power source.

"I'm including my easy-to-follow installation instructions, as well as a 9 volt battery clip. All you need is a small soldering iron and a guitar!"

That leads me to think it is powered by a 9-volt. Not included of course.

Looks pretty neat!!
I've got a Chandler Tone X midboost system that's actually the guts of a wah pedal mounted on a push/pull tone pot and hooked up to a 9v battery (this was the same system Joe Perry had in his first LP signature model). I had it in my old Warrior with an X2N and Super 2 and it sounded pretty cool. You basically pull the knob up to engage the wah function... you turn the control back and forth to simulate the wah sweep, or you can leave it in a stationary position anywhere throughout the spectrum. Very cool!

I had something like this 20 years ago. I think it was called a Strato-blaster by Alembic. Only had one switch though.

I think it's kind of neat. If I owned a guitar with a top route and a pickguard, I would try one out.
