  • replacing EL34's for 6CA7's

Anyone got experience with this? I bought a 50W combo and was wondering what exactly would change if I'd replace the stock EL34's with 6CA7's. Are there also things that I should take in account? Thanks all!

The only thing that will change is slightly more headroom and more bottom end, all good things in my book. I did this with my VHT Pittbull Classic and it did wonders for these areas as well as cutting out some of the EL34 mids. Just make sure to get the same rating on the tubes as the old ones and you should be fine. The EH tubes are great 6CA7`s. You are basically getting more of a 6L6 sound out of an EL34 amp. Jack.

Cool! That sounds promising! I think I'll give them a try... Why is it that I can't find much information about these tubes? I can't imagine that these wouldn't be a popular solution for metal players who don't want their tubes to break up so soon.
