Zeegler hows your randall doing find a way to add gain yet, funny how we both have an RGT100 & a tech21 XXL i still think that pedal is one of the best distortion pedals. tho i got the XXL after my gigging days.

[/ QUOTE ]

Funny you should mention it. It changes from day to day. Some days it sounds just right, and some days I am frustrated with it because it's just so close, but no cigar you know. I'm not using anything to push it. I gave up on the SD-1 and the XXL for now, because they didn't seem to have the desired effect. I am borrowing a Sonic Maximizer from a friend of mine next week, to see if that does anything good.

I'll be rebiasing it when my bias probe arrives. I am hoping that maybe it is running a little cool, and I can spice it up a little with a bias adjustment. If that doesn't work, I'll give the pedals one more go, and then I'll be looking for a tech to mod it.

As for the XXL, I still think it is the best distortion pedal I have heard, and sounds incredible tubey for a solid state pedal. Hmmm, maybe I will mess with it tomorrow.

Re: Detail your live rigs please

Well , Idon't play live anymore, but here is what I used...

Marshall DSl50(highly moded), Red voodoo 4x12 with Vintage 30's.

My rack has a Sennheiser Evolution wireless that goes to a Morley Bad horsie wha and into a GCX switcher.
Boss flanger ( hate it)
MXR EVH phase 90
Ibanez tubescreamer
Boss chorus
MXR microamp
Boss Delay
Boss GE-7

Thats all powered by a pedal power 2, Then I have a BBE, and a Rocktron hush unit. A sabine Rack tuner, and of course it's all pluged into a Furman

I use a Ground control pro to switch the stuff in an out.

I mainly just use the first bank and each button calls up the following presets.

1 Just my distortion with the hush.

2 the clean channel with a chorus and the GE-7, hush off

3 Distortion, delay

4 Distortion, phase 90

5 Distortion, flanger

6 Clean channel and the tube screamer

7 Distortion, phase 90, delay

8 Distortion, flanger, Delay

In the second bank I have a few presets of the clean channel with phase or flange and delay.

I made one preset that had everything turned on at the same time and it sonded like one big cool mess!

I called it the preset of doom HAHAHA!

Re: Detail your live rigs please

My guitar choices for gigs change periodically, but here is my rig that has stayed the same for the past 5 years with my latest choice of guitars...

Guitars...
#1: '79 hardtail Strat (trans blond, medieum weight, chunky neck, black plastic changed to white) with Dimarzio Fast Track I in the bridge

Backup: '92 Floyd Rose Classic Strat, Dimarzio Super Distortion (old school 2 conductor version) in the bridge and Texas Specials in the mid and neck.

Tuned to open E: '94 Mex Standard Tele (bone stock!)

The rest of the rig which hasen't changed in 5 years...

Guitar>Cry Baby>Carvin Legacy head/'74 Marshall 4x12/Greenbacks.
DOD FET preamp in the effects loop for lead boost.

I like to keep my rig simple and believe I have achieved that goal. I think it speaks volumes that I haven't had the urge/need to change this rig in 5 years.

Re: Detail your live rigs please

Get ready, cuz here come the big guns:
Casual Jam Rig: SMOKEY POCKET AMP
Effects: Natural Reverb (place amp in metal bucket); Rotovibe (swing amp in circle from guitar cord); Volume Boost (move amp closer to ear level).

Street Corner Mobile Performance Rig: ROLAND MICROCUBE
Internal effects included.
If crowd gathers, carry handle & battery power allow fast getaway.

Coffeehouse Rig: TECH 21 TRADEMARK 10
Important: Either seek a very weak drummer (perhaps a very small child or a drummer with scurvy) or fill drums with sand or other sound-absorbing material before each performance.
Also, ask audience to use "inside voice" when chanting "Freebird!"

Small club rig: TECH 21 TRADEMARK 30
Need only fill drums half-way with this one!
Oak case allows double duty as doll furniture when not gigging.
