• Amp Score at a Flea Market

The wife surprised me with an amp she bought at a flea market this weekend. I was hoping for something like a Roland Microcube or similar.

So I go down to the basement and see an almost new THD Univalve sitting on top of my Genz Benz.

She said they had it for sale for $50 and she beat them down to $35.

Er, I have a univalve, and let me say they're great amps! Congratulations!

..I got mine for £450 including a custom made 2x12 that the amp head slots into, inc. speakers and alll, which was a killer deal, but ..$35.. I don't think she's serious! lol.

what a great story.. major points to your wife!
Does it work? There had to have been something wrong for them to list it so low.. a cosmetic issue? I cannot believe something like that.. the people at the market would not check the going rate before selling. Thier loss, your gain. Congrats.

Re: Amp Score at a Flea Market

The only operational defect I can find is that the attenuator is a little scratchy.

Pete, the thing sounds awesome with the Ruby EL-34 that you sent me with the Twisteramp.

I might add that your Twisteramp more than holds it own against the THD with the lower gain stuff.

Cool to hear, Fritz! Those attenuators are ALL scratchy feeling on the univalves. Mine was the same way.

FYI, their attenuator circuit and mine are eerily familiar. And no, they weren't the first to use it either.
