• Help me clean my tweed covered amp, Please!!

I've got a Peavey Classic 30 and it is starting to get a little dusty and crusty. It's the first amp or anything I've ever had with a tweed covering, so I have no idea what would be good to clean it with.

    Tips and suggestions appreciated,

    Chris

It just has a little buildup of dust and dirt worked into the tweed in spots. My vinyl covered amps were easy, just grab the Armor All, but I don't think that will work very well on tweed. I just wondered if there were any specific products or household cleaners that would be good for cleaning tweed.

Dude, you don't clean tweed amps. Sounds to me like it's just getting some character!

I don't know of any truth to this. But this guy seems to think Goo Gone works.

I'd be extremely careful cleaning tweed... if you do try a miracle cleaner, try it on the BOTTOM of the amp in a small area - if it screws anything up, you'll never notice it again.

I agree with Tim - when tweed ages it looks awesome. Most I'd ever do is maybe swipe over it with a slightly damp cloth to dust it a bit. I wouldn't hit it with chemicals personally.

Thanks everybody! It's just about three years old. I've always wiped it off with a dry cloth, but a few cold drinks placed on there caused the dust to work it's way in. I've never had anything tweed. Very cool looking covering, it is growing on me. I'll try the damp cloth, and let it age gracefully as suggested.
