I had a session in a studio last night and instead of bringing my own gear I used the studios amp. They had a new Peavey XXL head and a Peavey 4 x 12 5150 cabinet.
We played 80's and 90's metal.
My review: yuck
It sounded like mush, it hissed like a mother, the bottom was "wampy" and only the ultra channel is good for metal.
Its a pretty loud amp but it lacks presence in a band situation and gets lost in the mix rather easily.
The good things: It had a nice clean channel, it looks really cool and the best thing about it was that it wasn't mine.
