Does being sick effect your hearing?

Ive had a high fever and cold for the past 2 days, and my amp (Modified JCM 800 ) has been sounding very hi-endy and harsh. Its really irritating me.

Can your amp seem to lack low end if your sick?

    Thanks.

it definitely affects my hearing, but for me it's the other way 'round....things tend to lack high end when i'm sick

If you've got a cold, it can definitely have an affect on your hearing, especially if it's a head cold-your ear, nose, and throat are all connected so if one is out of whack then the other two have a bigger chance of not functioning 100% as well.

Exactly what Boxcar said. Being sick can definitely have an affect on hearing.

if your eardrum is irritated, the high sounds may seem very harsh, and if there is fluid behind the eardrum, it can make all kinds of wacky sounds. take a decongestant like sudafed (it is in most major cold meds)and you should be ok in a few days.
