        Re: Finally Found the Sound!

So any of you guys know much about tubes?

I put in some JJ's in the preamp section and Groove Tube EL34's in the power section.

People have told me the JJ's will make it sound darker.

I don't really know that much about the tube end of things.

Tried some of the Russian and Chinese tubes in some other amps and they were kind of tinty (sovtek, etc...)

            I have 2 Bag Ends - each one is 2 - 12" speakers.

Can take 400 watts continuous with 1600 watt peaks.

Damn things are back breakers - about 80lbs a piece. Great sound though.

Frankly, after all these years I did not think I would find a tone that I liked. I tried the Marshall 9200, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, etc...

But I just happened accross this amp which is a killer amp and figured out how to set it properly after about 2 years of owning it.

One thing I can say for sure is that the Framus Cobra is a killer amp with sparkling highs, huge base and more gain than you will ever need. I am really happy with it - definitely a keeper.

Also, if anyone is interested the Ibanez SDR 1000 is from the 80's and is a great piece of gear for metal. Dual processing chips, stereo 24 bit, reverb and delay, midi controlled or can be controlled with 2 standard foot pedals. For the money ($100 - $125) nothing can touch it.

It is what I use and you can find them on ebay now and then.
