hey riscchip -- is that billy connolly from the "boondock saints" on your avatar?

this is a great thread. lots of good pedals to play with. TS9/TS808/DS1 etc...these are low gain pedals designed to push your already overdriven amp over the top.

if you have a clean clean clean amp...you need to go more extreme with your pedal choice. one pedal no one has seemed to mention is this Sansamp series....i used a Tri-OD through a 300 watt solid state amp into a cabinet, and it sounded freaking amazing. plus that pedal into a peavey decade, and it sounds like crap!

assess your tone, assess your guitar amp situation, and start trying stuff out!

Wow! First person ever to know where it came from! At least, the first to call it out. Yes indeed. You got it.

I use a MT2 Metalzone.I am not saying it IS the best, but it is the best pedal I have ever heard.

There's a new Digitech pedal called DF-7 (distortion factory) i think which mods a few of the coolest distortion pedals out there like metal zone, the metal master, TS9. ANyone have already tried it or know how much it costs? its not on mf yet.
Here's the link to Digitech DF7
I'm waiting to try it

Re: Advice on Distortion Box choice...

Doesn't look like anyone's mentioned these... but I was for a long time interested in a Guyatone Metal Monster.. but instead I opted for a Rocktron Zombie. I've tried and listened to a couple different Rocktron pedals, pretty good dist, and each one has a different character to it.
I also think the Boss OD-20 is cool if you happen to have a use for a range of distortion sounds rather than just one sound.

I'll maybe use it for tracking guitars for my band cd.
