exodus had both xxx and jsx stacks sent to them for the tour. they had both onstage side by side. but only the jsx was actually plugged in and turned on. it was huge sounding. but a little peircing for my taste. i preffered megadeths sound. but exodus did have a louder guitar sound.
joe satriani is a tone freak. just listen to any of his albums up to Extremist. my favorite is Flying in a Blue Dream.
joe knew how to get all the sounds he ever wanted. and his new amp was biult to do that without the boss ds-1, and a tube screamer in front of it. (granted he still has to run all his other effects with it.) but the jsx will do what you want it to.
